The political fallout from Trumps’ Tulsa rally continues as trump pushes U.S. representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, to challenge the states’ long-time Senator Chuck Schumer in the 2022 state primary scheduled to hold in November. He says that she would be a “big improvement” and she would win.

Critics of the Trump administration says that his call on Cortez to run is an attempt to divide the party. Schumer has been an outspoken critic of the president, but so has Cortez.

Ocasio-Cortez who faces her primary opponent this year for her House seat, amazed the political organization when she defeated a ten-term Representative Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary held in 2018 and proceeded to win the general election.

Cortez has since then been regarded as the standard-bearer for the Democratic Party’s left flank, calling for a “Green New Deal” and the removal of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

In April she said in an interview that she is set on winning her re-election to Congress and does not seek higher office. When asked if she would run against Schumer, she responded “I do not know.

Taking a peek in January, it was reported that Schumer “is trying to ward off a 2022 primary challenge” from Ocasio-Cortez.

Trump retweeted a post that said liberals “are kicking around the idea” of the “Squad” leader taking on Schumer, who embodies to them the old establishment.

“Just going to say something out loud that should be obvious: The fastest way to speed up the process of changing the corrupt, do-nothing, status-quo-protecting culture of the national Democratic Party is for @AOC to defeat @ChuckSchumer in a Democratic primary in 2022,” David Sirota, a senior adviser to the Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, wrote.

This is not the first time Trump promotes a challenge between these two.
