34-year-old Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput commits suicide

Indian actor  Sushant Singh Rajput who made his debut in the Bollywood industry with a movie called “Kai Po Che” in 2013, has left for heaven by ending his own life in his Mumbai residence on Sunday, according to the police personnel. 

He played the character of Indian cricket player- Mahendra Singh Dhoni in his biopic and was accorded with the best actor (male) award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in 2017. The 34-year-old star had gained fame through a Hindi TV serial called “Pavitra Rishta” or sacred Ties from 2009 to 2014. 

This is the third death in Bollywood in 2020, following the death of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. Expressing condolence over Sushant Singh’s demise, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi tweeted, “Sushant Singh Rajput…a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti.”

His family also released an official statement to offer prayers that read, “It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us. We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work as they have done so far. We request the media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief.” 

Sushant Singh was not only committed to or fond of acting but he also had equal commitment towards physics. Indian critics claimed that Sushant was impressive as a performer from his initial days itself but he was getting better with every new film. Manoj Bajpayee, who is also an established name in the Indian cinema, expressed his deep condolence towards Singh’s death.
